Making "Good Dog" Happen Faster

My name is Carl Matthew - Dog Trainer
I specialise in dog behaviour modification for dog owners who want real change. I work with you in a clear, no‑nonsense way so you understand exactly what to do and why it works.
I focus on fast, lasting results, in days and weeks, not months and years.
Together we tackle aggression, resource guarding, crate training, puppy training, pulling on the lead, reactivity and more. Every plan is tailored to you, your dog and your daily life.
If you’re feeling stressed, embarrassed or stuck with your dog’s behaviour, I’ll show you a simple, step‑by‑step path forward so you can enjoy calm walks, relaxed evenings and a dog you’re proud of.
"For years, my dog pulled on the lead and barked at everyone and everything, Carl comes along, shows me what I was doing wrong, shows me how to communicate with my dog, and within one hour my dog walked nicely and ignored passers by! Thank you, Carl" - Sarah B

2004
About Carl
I trained my first dog in 2004.
I focus on real‑world behaviour problems and practical training methods that work in everyday life, not just in a class or on paper.
Over the years I’ve blended modern, science‑based, balanced dog training with clear, simple coaching for owners. The result is a calm, structured way of working that helps you understand your dog, change their behaviour and feel confident handling whatever comes up.
In 2004, I started my career training dogs for security work. In 2020 I switched to domestic dog training.
Qualifications & Experience I want you to feel 100% confident hiring me, so I’ll be completely open with you. I’ve completed extensive professional training and hold a qualification in canine behaviour and training. (CoE Canine Behaviour Certification). Although I didn’t need to get this credit, I did, just so I have something for worried dog owners. My expertise comes from years of hands-on work, continuous learning, and a deep, proven understanding of how dogs actually think and learn. Here’s what that means for you: * Real-world results, not just theory * Loads of successful cases, from basic training to severe reactivity and aggression * Transparent methods, balanced, science-backed, kind and effective * Guaranteed support. I don’t leave you stuck At the end of the day, the best accreditation is results. Read my reviews. See for yourself why so many trust me with their dogs. I am not accredited by dog training organisations. What I am is a certified professional dog trainer and canine behaviourist, training my first dog in 2004. I’ve helped hundreds of dogs and their owners across the UK, including many of the most complex, challenging cases other professionals couldn’t resolve. Why I chose to stay independent: Creative Freedom * No strict rules: Unaccredited trainers can use new, creative, or out-of-the-box methods without needing approval from a governing board. * Focus on the individual dog: Trainers can change their approach instantly to fit a specific dog's needs instead of following a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum. * Lower Costs and Less Red Tape * No expensive fees: I do not have to pay yearly membership dues or renewal fees to keep a special status. I don’t need to charge my clients extra, to cover such costs * Less paperwork: I spend less time on administrative rules and more time actually working with dogs and owners. Practical Experience Over Paperwork * Real-world skills: Many unaccredited and independent mentors focus entirely on hands-on success rather than classroom testing. * Unique backgrounds: Self-taught or unconventionally trained people often bring rich, diverse life experiences to their work instead of standard textbook theory.
